How Lagos State Governor Ambode plans to ban danfo buses.

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode announced plans to ban commercial buses, commonly known as danfo, in the metropolis.
However, despite updates about the new white and blue buses that will replace the danfo, the government is yet to provide a detailed plan of the routes they will cover, the timeline of the roll-out plan and the fate of those most concerned, the danfo drivers.
Lagos has big plans of being a megacity in coming years. To achieve this, successive governors have phased out various familiar elements of the city in a bid to develop its systems and infrastructure to catch up with advancements in contemporaries such as MumbaiJohannesburg and Rio.
Speaking at the 14th annual lecture of the Centre for Values in Leadership, Ambode says he is ready to rip the local buses of lagos road before the end of the year. “When I wake up in the morning and see all these yellow buses and see Okada and all kinds of tricycles and then we claim we are a mega city, that is not true and we must first acknowledge that that is a faulty connectivity that we are running”, the governor said.
“Having accepted that, we have to look for the solution and that is why we want to banish yellow buses this year. We must address the issue of connectivity that makes people to move around with ease and that is where we are going”, he added.
This is not the first time Lagos is attempting to ban these conspicuous yellow and black buses. As with previous attempts, the Danfo drivers are not exactly welcoming of Gov. Ambode's plan, however well-intentioned it may be.
THE NEW PHASE.
